Black Lives Matter

I have been spending a lot of personal time calling my elected representatives and talking with friends and family about racial justice and it slipped my mind that I need to share my views here. Politically I try to avoid liberal and conservative labels. I try to treat each person I encounter as a beloved child of God, regardless of who they are. I try to be a good steward of assets and to act with integrity to protect and grow them. In the trolley problem, I would find a way to activate the secret hovercraft in it or some other win-win-win solution. It drives people bananas because they can't pigeon hole me as a shark or a sheep, and yet it works to deliver results. Outside of my working life, I'm almost an activist and always have been. I haven't linked my social media accounts to my professional life, because I was worried I would lose business. People who know me well know this is true about me, and it's important I share it here.
Black Lives Matter is important to me because I live in a country where we have a hierarchy of who gets to be human and who doesn't. Being a human being is not something that is earned. It is a gift from God. In the US, we have put Black people at the bottom of this hierarchy for 400 years. Of all the countries that had slaves, the US is the only one who made slavery into a legacy and to use skin color as the criteria. After the Civil War, the US betrayed commitments to generations of Black People. Now, As a woman, I can relate to being dehumanized; I've been repeatedly put in my place to perform as a mother, a lover, or a wh*** (you know the quote). While unwanted physical contact has been an issue for me, I am believed when I report it. I haven't had to worry about my life being threatened by institutions that are supposed to protect me.
Maybe this disclosure will keep you from contracting with me to address the challenges you face today. Good. I don't want to work with you until you are ready to change. Good luck on your journey and call me when you are ready to make core strategy changes that will engage your organization and deliver results. If you are interested in working together, please contact me, I have availability starting in August 2020.
